Almost Nothing
Launching its public programs under new directorship, the venerable NY-based honour society of artists commissioned Studio Mathias Clottu to rethink its graphic identity. We supported the vision with adjusting LL Unica77 to yield a tailor-made new look that signals a confident hands-off attitude.

Signalling understatement – A modest set of letters and a distinct set of rules in the hands of the designers are the only tools to build a visual framework reflecting a sense of cultured sophistication.

Bespoke character shape – Turning conventional approaches of institutional identification upside down, we re-conceived the typeface’s signature characters to make it less identifiable, in order to support the designers’ quest for discreetness.

Portfolio site – The custom weight fits in perfectly with the image-centred design of the website, including for text in tiny sizes.
