Yanek Iontef
Born in the Soviet Republic of Moldova in former USSR in 1963, Yanek Iontef emigrated to Israel in 1979, where he studied graphic design at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem (1985–1989). He specialised in type design and typography of the Hebrew script. In 1994, he initiated Fontef, an independent foundry in Tel Aviv.
Between 1995 and 2005, Yanek taught Typography and Type Design at the Bezalel Academy and at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. He has worked on custom type faces for international companies, as well as designing various extensions of Latin typefaces for many independent foundries. Since 2017 he runs Fontef with Daniel Grumer.
Yanek collaborated with Laurenz Brunner on the creation of LL Circular Hebrew (2017) and LL Akkurat Hebrew (2019).
