LL Prisma Text is the text-friendly companion to LL Prisma. The first two weights emerged from a custom font commission for the museum cluster Plateforme 10 in Lausanne back in 2016, and Robert Huber has since extended the project to a full family including italics.

Rather than faithfully replicating LL Prisma’s geometric construction, the development of the text typeface included numerous subtle adjustments of letter-shapes, proportions and contrast, to improve compactness, balance and fluidity. A formal reinterpretation of the numbers as well as an elevated caps-height (adjusted to the ascenders) contribute to the visual appeal and optimised legibility. Meanwhile, LL Prisma’s relatively low uppercase shapes remain integrated as a separate file (Prisma Text Low), which allows for optimal pairing. Most weights of the text typeface correspond to a certain number of lines in LL Prisma, while an additional bold weight was devised to offer more subtle grading options.

In the mirror of history, LL Prisma Text might appear like a reverse-engineered version of Kabel: While Rudolf Koch created his multi-line typeface Prisma (1930) as a decorative complement to Kabel (1927), Robert Huber navigated his way back from LL Prisma to an accompanying text face.
