Conducting his BA studies at Westerdals school of art, Norwegian-born Arve Båtevik (*1991) was introduced to type design during an internship at Oslo-based design company Eriksen/Brown. For his 2015 thesis Subtle Expression in Typography he interviewed a number of contemporary type designers, among them François Rappo, who subsequently became his type design teacher at ECAL.

Arve interned at Cornel Windlin’s Berlin studio in the summer of 2016, where he was tasked with elaborating the second set of LL Prismaset, to which he added a whole range of newly-developed cuts. In 2017, he received an MA in Art Direction from ECAL for his exhaustive comparative study of the Geometric Sans genre. Joining Lineto after his graduation, Arve worked on a number of new type designs, the primary projects being LL Supreme, and the soon-to-be released LL Ruder Plakatschrift.
